CITY OF CALLENDER – CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

June 6, 2017

The Callender City Council Meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Mayor Randy Hanson Present: K. Simonson, K. Jondle, N. Martens and W. Martens.  Absent was D. Lee

Mayor R. Hanson opened the public hearing Budget Amendment FY 16/17.  No comments from the public.  Motion by K. Simonson, Second by K. Jondle to close the public hearing. All Ayes – MC

Guests from the floor was Mr Murphy in regards to standing water at his property 718 Agnes.  Council will work with Kahl to see if we can get a bid to see what we can do to try and correct the situation. 

Motion by K. Jondle, Second by N. Martens to approve the Consent Agenda; including Minutes of the City Council 5/16/17, Claims Payables and Financial Report Bundle May 2017.  All Ayes.  MC

Motion by K. Simonson, Second by N. Martens to approve the Agenda.  All Ayes. MC

Motion by K. Simonson, Second by K. Jondle to approve Resolution #518 Amending current budget for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2017.  Ayes: K. Simonson, K. Jondle, N. Martens, W. Martens.  Absent: D. Lee. MC. 

Motion by N. Martens, Second by W. Martens to approve Resolution #519 Annual Transfer of Funds. Ayes:  N. Martens, K. Simonson, K. Jondle, W. Martens.  Absent: D. Lee. MC

Nuisance Letters will need to be followed up with and the end of June.

City Election will be November 2017.  Interested parties can pick up paperwork at City Hall and requires at least 10 signatures on the nomination petition.  In order to hold office in the city, a candidate must be an eligible elector, meeting the same qualifications required to vote, and be a resident of the City of Callender.   

Final Audit Information was received from Cornwell, Frideres, Maher and Associates, P.L.C.

Sewer Utility Request was received the council at this time will not be forgiving any sewer as it is tied to the water. 

Elevator Demo was approved to finish taking the remaining portion of the elevator.  We will also work on getting an estimate to put up a fence around the elevator to prevent injury.

Grass around town that was killed will try and be replaced in the fall.  One resident in town said that he would donate his time to try and replace the grass. 

Light Pole will need to be replaced by the elevator. 

Police protection 28E agreement conversation is in process to see if we can share police protection. 

The current city attorney will be moving to Ames. 

Donation to City Park for flowers to the memorial area.

Packing on city hydrant will need to be replaced at the city park.   

Current Firework Ordinance 45.23 will continue to be kept in force. 

City Garage Sale will be June 9th and June 10th
